Lucerne and Bavaria (and this is neither)

I'll be going to Lucerne and Zurich, in Switzerland, and then after that, to Bavaria, to write travel stories.

Why aren't I going to Thailand or South Africa or even Tunisia or ... well pretty well anywhere warm, during the winter?  Perhaps I will, another time. But in some ways I love the dark, cold winters in Northern places. One of the best trips I ever had was to Canada, where we stayed in the sensational Hotel Montebello, Quebec.  It is everything a hotel should be in the winter, and if I were a millionaire I'd spend January there every year.
