I saw this pretty sight in Regents Park yesterday. It reminded me of Japan - and that a year ago we were off to Japan! I plan to return before too long as I felt there was so much more to see that I hadn't managed to do.
What a lovely encounter - I always thought that I would never want to make a return visit to the same country as there are so many places in the world to see, but as I get older I am happy to return again and again to countries that have whetted my appetite and in which I wish to discover more.
We're starting to put together our Japan/Cambodia trip, it won't be till next September, but it takes a bit of planning. Our daughter lives in a tiny studio apartment so we'll be staying in a hotel while we're in Fukuoka. So many things I want to see and do while there.
Like the person who commented first, I am surprised to read that your Japan visit was a year ago - it certainly doesn't seem like it! The picture is lovely, and I am glad the little girl was allowed to play in the leaves in spite of being dressed so smartly.
I think it doesn't seem so long because I was posting about Japan for months after - it made quite an impression on me! But the trip started exactly a year ago.
Hello, Jenny! It must have been a pleasant surprise to find such lovely kids including a girl dressed in Japanese kimono. Nice location of autumn to photograph them treading on the fallen ginkgo leaves. I guess she’s dressed for Shichi-Go-San, a ritual to celebrate healthy growth. The day is November 15, but many people visit shrine flexibly from late October through November and get the kid photographed. I’m tied with babysitting for a while, but I think I’ll go to Nara Park around the time when we explored together.
Wow, it doesn't seem like it's been a year since you were there last. I remember reading those posts and enjoying your beautiful pictures and descriptions of everything.
I love, love, love this photo and I will tell you why. It captures the magic arrival of autumn (one of my two favourite seasons along with spring) and it shows the magic of London as a mutlicultural city Thanks for posting this.
That's a really great photo.
ReplyDeleteHello, Jenny,

ReplyDeleteThey seem to be enjoying a walk through the autumn leaves. This year seems to have zipped by so quickly in many ways.

ReplyDeleteYoko
Yes, I remember it so clearly Yoko. It was a great day that we spent with you and we often talk about it.
DeleteAnd thank you for explaining about Shichi-Go-San. Is this the one where the girls are celebrated when they get to be 5 years old?
DeleteWow...was that really a year ago?
ReplyDeleteI love the photo - such cute kids!
Wow, talk about a cutie!
ReplyDeleteAwwww....
ReplyDeleteHave fun and explore lots of places when you visit Japan again.
Can't wait to read all about it! :)
What a beautiful image, Jenny. It seems like yesterday that you were in Japan.
ReplyDeleteChildren all over the world kick through dry leaves! Though not many children play in Savernake in long pink dresses with flowers in their hair!
ReplyDeleteThey would probably be fairies! :)
DeleteI can't believe it was a year ago that you visited Japan. Love the picture of the children - and the autumn leaves.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a lovely photo of the children. I've never been to Japan though the culture really interests me - the food less so:)
ReplyDeleteSuch an adorable pic

ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
The leaf-fall this year seems to be absolutely colossal. Or maybe I just don't remember how colossal it was last year?
ReplyDeleteAnd that's a beautiful kimono.
I was in St James Park on Wednesday. Didn't see these two lovely children but did see some pelicans!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable twosome and I LOVE your header! The kitty in it is just perfect.
ReplyDeleteAren't they sweet! The colours in that image are very striking.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos.
ReplyDeleteThis is enchanting! I love the colors, the smiles, the leaves. Perfect!
