The sun rises majestically upon a New Year in a brief moment of orange and gold...
Or rather, if you live in Britain, freezing rain and wind heralds the new year in a whole day of grey skies.
(But I thought you'd probably prefer to look on the bright side, with the sun!)
The sun is shinning with blue skies here in Tucson.
ReplyDeleteHappy Happy New Year.
cheers, parsnip
Well, I was almost blown away by a typical dusty Texas windstorm today. I hope your new year will be filled with sunny skies and all good things. Have a wonderful 2014, Jenny!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Jenny...gray or sunny beginnings.
ReplyDeleteMay your new year be simply wonderful Jenny!
ReplyDeleteI love your header, the snow has cooled me down, it's HOT and humid here for new year.
New year blessings!
Happy New Year Jenny!!
ReplyDeleteMay you have a contented and happy 2014 with good health to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI am of an age at which all sunrises, no matter what weather occludes or reveals them, are encouraging. Orange and gold are delightful, but each new day will do. Happy New year to you too!
ReplyDeleteWould you mind going over to check if Adullamite has a warm coat? I don't think he has enough sense to get one on his own.
ReplyDeleteOh my, you are so right, what a stunning and inviting view this is. I can almost feel the ripples of the water.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your family as well! We've had grey skies and rain here in Florida for the last three days...minus the "freezing" part, of course.
ReplyDeleteYour weather is crummy, too, but your header scenery is just great. The road to London, Yarmouth, and...I can't quite make out the third sign.
ReplyDeleteNice shot!

A very Happy New Year to you too, Jenny. Look forward to seeing some more lovely photos in 2014.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you, too Jenny. May it bring excitements, and stories, and not too many alarms.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year jenny. May 2014 bring you happiness, good health and travels by the suitcase-full
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Jenny! I hope you have wonderful weather this day!
ReplyDeleteAh, but just look at the day after!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year.
Happy New Year to you, Jenny! I hope that 2014 brings good things for you.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping 2014 is a wonderful year for you filled with great adventures.
ReplyDeleteDarla
Happy New Year to you and yours too, Jenny! You are perfectly right, of course, about looking on the bright side. It is not always the easiest focus but it is absolutely the most hopeful. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
ReplyDeleteNew year's day here was nice and warm. However the day after (today) is snowy and cold. Yea, welcome to Kentucky where the weather is never the same :o/
Happy New Year to you too! This made me smile.... as I peered out our front window through a sheet of wind and rain which howled around our cottage on a hill. Wishing you all the best for the year. x
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and yours, too, Jenny!
ReplyDeleteClear skies and a sunny 1st of January was how 2014 started off here in the South-West of Germany.
Same to you. I hope 2014 brings you nothing but the best. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
ReplyDelete(I have sunshine, thank you!)
Many thanks for all the pleasure and interest that your blog has given me...and looking forward to more in the year to come.
Happy New Year! Keep on the sunny side of the street!
ReplyDeleteHi, Jenny! Looks beautiful but I know from your last sentence and your comment on my Marmelade Gypsy post that you had a harried holiday too -- at least from a weather standpoint! So I hope the new year shines brightly for you, the ill winds vanish and it's smooth sailing in 2014!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Jenny!!
Jenny, Happy New Year from USA to you across the ocean in England! Beautiful photo. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely sun! The optical illusion is that the waves are moving, very good!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
ReplyDeleteAnd the same to you! Having experienced some of the freezing rain and winds of Britain over Christmas, I’m delighted to be back looking on the bright side.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely more a fan of beautiful sunrises than cold, gray days! Happy New Year!
ReplyDelete新年おめでとうございます、Jenny! Shinnen omedetou gozaimasu! Now that it's already the 3rd day of the new year, I can use the "proper" Japanese greeting. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Happy New Year to you, Jenny.
ReplyDeleteAnd to you, JW!
ReplyDeleteoy...its freezing cold here, howling winds, but dry at least....
ReplyDeleteit is a lovely bit of sun you found though...would be nice to have a bit of warmth...
happy new year to you...smiles.
Happy New Year! Lovely photo and definitely better than thinking about all the wind and rain.
ReplyDeleteAnd a very Happy New Year to you, Jenny. I hope it treats you kindly in every way possible.
ReplyDeleteIt's very hot here at present...today is going to break all records, it is predicted. I'm not looking forward to it.
Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteRain, wind, grey sky, blink and sun has started to set - tell me about it. :)
Great to have alll these good wishes flying around! thank you ! Joanne, it says "Framling'm" which is short for "Framlingham" - I suppose they couldn't cast it all on to the signpost. The post stands in Yoxford, Suffolk, and Fram is one of the biggest towns of the area, not that it's very big!
ReplyDeleteJerry, it would never do for Adullamite not to have a warm coat, I will drop by and check.
.
Hm, Lee, I guess that there is something to be said for cold and rainy weather as opposed to too hot. That can I think be worse. Hope you had a good Christmas anyhow! I like the idea of blinking and the sun sets Dominic. So very true.
ReplyDelete新年おめでとうございます to you Ruruosha!
ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't mean to give that impression on my comment, Jeanie, it wasn't harried at all this Christmas but really nice. Very busy indeed though and it was wonderful to see so many people. I'm really sorry it's over.
Luckily the weather has not bothered London much - the worst hit areas seem to be in the South West of England.
Happy New Year, Jenny.
ReplyDeleteThat is a perfect photo for the 1 January 2014.
Hope this year brings a lot of happiness to you.
Jenny, Happy New Year my writer friend!
ReplyDeleteI hope that the year of 2014 brings you peace, happiness and health!
And may the rain soon stop!
Much love,
Tammy
Your picture is much better than what we have had. Miserable cold. I like looking at the bright side with your help of course.
