So Exciting

There we were, minding our own business one blossomy day in Spring 2011,  when  T's mobile rang.  It was our daughter K, calling from Brazil.   It was wonderful news. She was calling to say F. had proposed.  And the wedding would be in late Spring, 2012.

We were delighted!   But late Spring 2012 seemed a long way away.

It's nearly here now, though. Just another few weeks.

So exciting!

  1. Spring blossoms are just a pure delight and we like them even more because of their transience.

  20. Thanks for the comments! I am getting quite excited about it now. Actually, Friko and Pixel Peeper, she only called from Brazil because that is where they happened to be. It's a long complicated story how they happened to be there last Spring... actually she lives just five minutes walk from us in London! We will have the wedding in London. F's family are Irish but luckily Ireland is just a short hop with Ryanair. I'm soooo glad it's not Brazil, it's just too far.

I'll ask them if I can post photos. That will be fun! I'm trying to be brave and not wear traditional "mother of the bride" outfit - not even a hat. Hats aren't really "me" and K has specially said she wants everyone to wear clothes that suit their personality. On the other hand T has pointed out that I loved to wear great big hats when we first met :)

  26. Congratulations! I've always wondered at how people can do such long-ahead planning; how do they know they'll still want to get married in a year's time? Maybe I am lacking some "stability gene" there when it comes to relationships; I was married twice, and both times we didn't take more than a month or two from deciding we would take this important step and actually doing it.
Now, what are you going to wear...? :-)

  34. Congratulations! We wish your daughter, her fiancé, and your family a wonderful day to remember. Will it be in Brazil?

I am heading to a cousin's wedding next weekend as well in San Antonio, TX. Weddings are such lovely family reunions. I'll be meeting up with my dad, brother, cousins, etc. all coming from various corners of the earth.

Oh, I finally got a chance to see the Royal Ballet's "Alice in Wonderland" on DVD. It was quite creative and got better the more surreal it all was. I enjoyed the employment of theater and other media to convey the strangeness of the world down the rabbit hole!
