The sunrise above heralded a bright, sunny morning, the start of a new day. And I always like the feeling at the start of a new year, despite a tendency to make good resolutions which I don't always keep.
I'd better keep my main resolution now, though. It is to write my article on Bavaria - fast! It needs doing before my head gets totally scrambled by my next destination, Egypt.
I'm told that the weather isn't that hot in Egypt right now, and I'm hoping to see a few camels, (which are of course mostly there for tourists nowadays). I find camels strangely appealing. The ones below aren't Egyptian camels. I took the photos earlier this year in Syria, but I doubt that Egyptian camels look much different!.
Beautiful pictures, Jenny! Camels are so interesting. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous. Egypt is my dream place, always been on my list to visit. Can't wait to see pictures.
ReplyDeleteJenny,
ReplyDeleteWill you ride on one of the camels? Go on, you know you can do it!
I am really enjoying your book!
Yes-resolutions not kept-sounds familiar! I like camels too. They are just the oddest creatures aren't they? And I like the fact that they are a bit grumpy. Have fun on your travels. I look forward to reading about them!
ReplyDeleteYou trip sounds exciting. I look forward to reading about it and seeing the pictures.
ReplyDeleteDarla
That sunrise is wonderful! I hope all goes well during your travelling in Egypt.
ReplyDeleteMany years ago, I spent a fortnight in Tunisia and went on a camel ride for several hours in the desert. It was most enjoyable and so comfortable there, just as if I was in my favourite armchair, I could have kept riding for days on end.
My father and the zookeeper tried to convince me to ride one when I was a small child, but I was too scared. I've always wished I'd done so. In later years, I rode an elephant, but it was the camel ride I didn't take (which I blogged about, of course:), that remains solidly in my memory. I look forward to reading more of your adventures. Love these photos!
ReplyDeleteI can hardly wait to see pictures! Travel safely! Be well! :)
ReplyDeleteI take it the first picture was from your window this morning.....?
ReplyDeleteLovely shots, I hope you enjoy the sunshine while we endure the rain!
Looking forward to reading about all your travels...Bavaria to Egypt...quite a change of scenery! I'm glad you take us along for the journey and share your thoughts and photos. Be safe, and have a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteBavaria to Egypt, what an amazing journey. Pictures are glorious and I'm looking forward to the rest!
ReplyDeleteWarm the cold north to south, a whole climate change, a good time in Egypt, a great greeting and happy new year.
ReplyDeleteI changed my mind about camels after I was nearly run over by a run away camel escaping from Cairo's camel market. They're vicious!
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate the kind wishes and hope I'll be able to write some good things on the blog when I get back.
ReplyDeleteBut help, Macy. what a horrible thought! It's bad enough being chased by sheep! (you can tell I'm no countrywoman). Carlos, Sara, The Broad, Jill, Miranda and Darla, thank you for your nice words, (and I hope I will appreciate the change of temperature between Bavaria and Egypt.)
Kay, I am thrilled you are enjoying my book! thank you again...
Adullamite, the picture was taken through the window in my dream - I promise. Teresa and Librarian and Sarah, I don't know if I'll have any camel riding stories, I sort of prefer to admire from afar..though I have an idea I've been on one, many years ago. I went through Egypt as a child, and a few other places round that part of the world. On the other hand I might be remembering the zoo. It is strangely hard to tell what was what, looking back that far.
Love your new look
ReplyDeletewow, how exciting to be able to travel the world. Camels are gorgeous, but hear they are not so kind. Can't wait to see all the photos you take.
ReplyDeleteANA
If I could see a sunrise like that I would think I was in seventh heaven. Hmmm one day I must research that expression. I always liked to see the camels in the zoo... that was when I was a child and still ignorant about the horrors of caging or fencing animals. To see them in the wild must be quite an experience.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year! The new look is awesome. Have safe travels and I do hope you get to see some camels. I would love to go to Egypt!
ReplyDeleteA Happy New Year Jenny. We were in Munich just before Christmas - I wish I had that promised article on Bavaria. Enjoy Egypt and enjoy the camels.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to that article on Bavaria. How lucky are you to be in Egypt just now.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely sunrise shot. :)
ReplyDeleteAre you planning to ride the camels too?
Have a great trip in Egypt and see lots of camels. :)
These are fantastic images of Syria! I guess you were not In a part that was experiencing unrest? Happy New Year and I can't wait to see what you post about Egypt. Your job as a travel writer is enviable -- like being Herge's Tintin for real!
ReplyDeleteI can hardly keep up! Bavaria to Egypt?! You're not just whistling Dixie when you say you're a travel writer.
ReplyDeletetrekking your lovely blog!!! thanks for sharing and keep posting! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeletecheers!
..TREK..
Ha ha... I'm guilty of scrambling up visits to different places as I get too caught up with other stuff to actually sit down and blog about them right after the trip.
ReplyDeleteCamels are fascinating indeed. I've only seen them in the zoo, alas.
Thank you, and I'll respond to everyone's comments when I get back to the usual reliable internet connection :)
ReplyDeleteHello Jenny, thank you for your nice shots of new year.
