Waiting

No chance to do anything right now.  Just sit and wait, like this little cat on one of the pews in Aldeburgh Parish Church, Suffolk.  Like me, I think it is happy enough. It has its paw on what might be a ball of wool.

Have a good week!

  1. Sometimes just "sitting and waiting" is not bad at all...it beats running on the ever faster turning hamster wheel that is work!

  2. The cat has charm and patience. I agree that its paw is probably on a ball of yarn - - or else it's a snowball, because he's waiting for winter to end.

  5. You too, Jenny!
It's a lovely cat. The person who carved it clearly knew cats well in real life.

    1. I think it is a modern carving, Meike. It is lighter than some of the old wood carvings on the pews and also, as you say, more realistic.

  11. I simply love that the pews have little cats carved into their arm spots! Enjoy your busy time as much as you can! And breathe!

    1. It can be such fun to go round old churches and see the amazing carvings, so full of life they often are. I am sure they helped occupy bored children during long sermons, too, Jeanie.

  12. Yes, that looks like a happy cat just pausing. We all need a pause now and then. ;)

  15. My ex came to visit a couple or so weeks ago so we could celebrate his birthday together (we're still good friends and always will be)...and he gave me two wooden cats, not too unlike that one pictured. :)

    1. What a nice coincidence. Like I said to Meike above, I think that they are reasonably modern, well, 1960s. That counts as modern in many old churches!!

  16. Sitting and waiting is an activity too. You could always add staring.
Perhaps reading might be more productive? Or more entertaining?

Staying warm and cosy is my first priority at the moment.

    1. Me too. We used to have 2 but our baby was allergic. They went to live in a home in the country and to be honest they were much happier than they had been in London! still it was sad to see them go.

  22. How pleasantly unexpected to find a kitty in a church! I suppose she's there to catch the wooden mice. ;-)
