Daily Life.....

So, here in London, daily life has been going on...  It's been busy (mostly about Lewis Carroll) and I'm getting cabin fever stuck inside.  I also need to stop listening to the radio all about the horrible things going on in the world, but thank goodness I have got out sometimes, to the gym, the shops and of course, to see family.

And, a bonus - our friend's cottage in Suffolk just became empty and she's offered us the chance to go for a few days soon.  East Anglia in winter is not the warmest or most exotic of places but we willl go eagerly.  I've been missing Suffolk, which has been an important part of my life for years with its beautiful big skies.    Here's a picture I took there a few winters ago.

Well, back to work. I just wanted to check in.  I'll post about Japan again in a few days. It's nice to revisit it in my mind.

  1. There is something about those tiny baby shoes, suppose I'm imagining the tiny baby that wears them. Glad you are getting away for a bit, even if it isn't far away.

  2. Not much going on here, I know what you mean about cabin fever, always good to get away for awhile.

  4. Goodness gracious me! Are those babies wearing shoes already?

  5. I used to sail from Suffolk and Essex ports (if you can call them something so grand) and loved the area.

  6. I know what you mean about listening to the media, or picking up the newspaper. Oddly enough, I seem to rip out those few articles that are about good, happy stuff. Like Trumpeter Swans and where they are today. I always enjoy your checking in posts, and a trip away to a favorite place, how wonderful too!

  7. It's snowing here, Jenny, and I had to get up at six to keep a seven thirty appointment. Drove on some horrid roads. And that's daily life where I life. I am thankful the winter has not been so cruel as last year.

  8. I love the bottom photo. Does it help to listen to music or audio books rather than the news? I limit my news exposure so as not to become anxious, upset or angry...Good that you are getting out a bit.

  11. Sometimes it takes a while to let travel memories percolate. I look forward to more of your travels in Japan, or anywhere else.

  12. Thanks for your post. I have never been to East Anglia, winter or any other season. I've heard it's beautiful.

    All the best.

  13. That cloud is almost like a snail. Get great skies up here, in the Dales, too.

Was chatting on the phone a couple of years ago to a friend who lives 100-sh miles away. Were were both convinced, looking up into the sky that we were looking at opposite sides of the same interestingly-shaped cloud. (Last person I told this too directed my attention to http://cloudappreciationsociety.org)

  14. Go to Suffolk!
Even with the chill it is an opportunity to see the sky.
Being near the sea will be wonderful also. Walk among fields, even with snow, although that will have gone by then, and get the head clear of London and the laptop!
    Enjoy!

  15. Thank God for the Australian Tennis Open and the lead-up tournaments to the Open throughout January...the tennis is keeping me sane...and away from the news bulletins...some of them anyway. The world is going crazy...or at least some of the humans, if you call them that, who roam the place have gone and are going crazy. I shake my head....

  18. I just love your travel adventures--and JAPAN is exciting.

The beginning of your post made me grin, as I, too, do better when I don't listen to the news and, instead, just get about with life.

Any trip out and about is wonderful. Especially if you do feel stuck inside.

  21. That sky photo is breathtaking, Jenny! No wonder you are eagerly grabbing the chance to go there for a few days soon again. Enjoy your time out before going back to the "cabin"!

  22. I agree with you about the radio... let's all switch off in the hope that when we switch back on everything will be peaceful again. I wish!

  24. Cabin fever season indeed. It's tough being stuck indoors at this time of year and impatiently waiting for summer when I can spend the days in the garden or going for long walks.

    That's a lovely atmospheric photo.

  25. The Suffolk sky is fantastic! Much like you, I have cabin fever and can't wait for warmer weather - but I'm thoroughly enjoying my new environment in the Tennessee mountains. I haven't listened to the radio (or TV) news since I moved here, and I don't miss it. It's too depressing....

  26. I try to avoid the news as much as I can - too depressing.

    Enjoy your break!

  28. It does look a bit nippy in your picture. I was quite taken by your post on the sumo wrestlers. I would be great to assist to one of their matches.

  29. I like your attitude. Getting away is good anytime of the year. Have a happy mini vacation!

  31. I've just spent a couple of weeks near Glasgow and I missed the big skies of Lewis. There is absolutely nothing like big skies.

  32. A great photograph. Having a break somewhere else, even for a few days, at a place you love is just the tonic. Enjoy yourselves Jenny :D)
