Christmas!

Merry Christmas and a happy 2013 everyone.  Here are some of my own Christmassy pictures and I hope YOUR Christmas is wonderful!

Presents are so exciting!

Do you think there could be rather too many chocolate santas here for just one person?

PS As I haven't been much at my computer lately, I've only just noticed that I've been included in the Sunday Drive in As The Crackerhead Crumbles, a great blog which I advise you to check out! :)

For me, yes, there can be too much chocolates but if they are the marshmallow Santas dipped in chocolate I can be persuaded to eat some !

  34. Happy Christmas, Jenny - do hope it's peaceful for all of you.

(Many years ago I had to do a school project on monasteries and went to Southwark Cathedral - and was invited to use their library, where I could study an original copy of Mayhew's Life and Labour of the London Poor - smelling of old paper and some of the pictures fading, but, at only 17, it was magical. I can't think of Southwark Cathedral without hearing the rustle of turning those old pages.)

  35. Happy Boxing Day, Jenny, and I hope your Christmas was wonderful. I'm finally catching up a bit on blog buddies and looking forward to scrolling down your posts!

I have a very romantic (and possibly unrealistic) idea of Christmas in England -- as one of the kids said at the table: "England? That's where they invented Christmas!" And I've always thought that if I traveled at the holiday, that would be the city to visit. The lovely photos in your post did nothing to dissuade me of that idea! Beautiful. Merriest of Christmasses to you.

What a sweet smile in the first photo- your Christmas time photos are awesome, and yes that garden is protected very well- the best frosty ever too! Great post- so happy you had a wonderful Christmas!

  40. Loved all these wonderful photos. We hear the choir singing, but never spare a thought as to what it takes to make it into a professional choir....such dedication on the youngsters part....good for them!
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones.

  41. All of your photos are special Jenny but the first one captured something truly spiritual. Thank you for sharing it all.

  42. I'm hopelessly late! Oops. My only excuse is that New Year is a much bigger deal in Japan than Christmas.

I hope you had a great Christmas, Jenny, and here's to a wonderful 2013 with lots of happiness, adventures and stories!

  43. Wish I could hear that choir. Thanks for the great images. Hope your family had a wonderful Christmas and I'll take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year.

  44. I'm even later than Rurousha! I hope your Christmas was happy, indeed, and that the New Year brings great joy!

By the way, there is no such thing as too many chocolate Santas.

  45. Perhaps fish and chips are what Santa sustains himself with as he makes his arduous journey around the globe? I understand there's an especially good chippie quite near the Milky Way....

  46. I was on a computer vacation for several days, but I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. And--no--one can never have too many chocolate Santas. ;)

  47. Hi Jenny! Blessings to you and yours this Christmas and fast approaching new year! Hope you mum is feeling better and enjoying the festivities of the season. I've been missing in action in Blogland since Thanksgiving and am only now catching up - with a post today - and blog reading tonight!

Thanks so much for posting such fun shots of random English Christmas this and thats. Very enjoyable! I especially liked the young man in the paper crown. I do crackers every year on Christmas eve dinner and this year we hosted two couples for dinner. They had never heard of Christmas crackers and had a great time with them. One of the gentlemen cheerfully wore his crown through the entire meal! They used to be difficult to find here in the states, but have become easier to get in some shops - and we have an English tea room in town so she always has them! I love introducing folks to the tradition!

Anyway - take joy, milady - blessings!

  54. Thanks for your wonderful and interesting comments. I appreciate so much all the lovely messages and return them with knobs on (as we used to say at school - rather oddly, now I come to think of it) :D

  55. I hope you thoroughly enjoyed all the holidays and the chocolates! I mentioned to you how much we were entertaining several times a week over Christmas. Well, you can imagine all the different guises chocolate appeared in on our table. It didn't help having two wonderful french patisseries right downtown for me to sample for each party's dessert. I have been trying to run/dance it all off this past week! Unfortunately, the "lifetime on the hips" phrase seems to be accurate.

Your first two photos are so timelessly English. For young people in America whose only conception of the English is Harry Potter, those images completely support the perception! I do miss England. Oh, and congratulations on getting listed on the other blog!

I'm still trying to figure out the expression "return them with knobs on" ...

    Jenny
